But Wait!
Luke 2:22–38
“But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day” (2 Peter 3:8 ESV).
Expectation is the confident, hope-filled faith that God will do what he has promised, even when the timing is unclear.
Learn from the example of Simeon and Anna (Luke 2:25–38):
Remain rooted in God’s promises!
“…waiting for the consolation…”
Live responsive. Expectation keeps us attentive.
“…revealed to him by the Holy Spirit…”
Maintain worship and prayer.
“…worshiping with fasting and prayer…”
Be faithful in presence.
“…he came in the Spirit into the temple…”
Hold expectation with open hands.
The common elements from Simeon and Anna:
Long faithfulness in the same direction.
Hearts that remained open before the Lord.
Remain positioned to receive all God has for you.
