More Mercy, Less Measure
James 2:1–13
- Right belief (orthodoxy) without right practice (orthopraxy) leads to hypocrisy.
- Favoritism: the practice of giving preferential treatment to certain individuals or groups at the expense of others.
- We often measure others by their appearance, affluence, or influence, but God looks at the heart.
- What is the royal law? “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Luke 10:27 NIV).
Three ways to set our compass toward mercy:
- Let the Bible be your standard: Accept people.
- Let love be your rule for living: Value people.
- Let mercy be your message: Bless people.
“Mercy triumphs over judgment” (James 2:13 NIV).
